Red Letter Days Affiliate Day 2014

For the sixth year running we held our annual Affiliate Day on Thursday 17th July. The day was attended by Red Letter Days, Affiliate Window and Affilinet plus numerous publishers and partners such as Vouchercloud, AfternoonTea.co.uk and DC Storm (to name a few).

The event is designed to give publishers an insight into the range of Red Letter Days experiences plus a chance to get closer to the brand; and in addition to reward them for their hard work and contribution to the success of the affiliate programme.

This year the day consisted of four teams with each team comprising of a network representative, publishers and partners. The day started, after a sandwich lunch, with a Treasure Hunt in the City of London. The teams were armed with tablets to follow a trail round London, answering questions and taking part in activities to gain points.

The treasure hunt led the participants to City Pier and our next activity – Power Boating on the Thames! Split into two boats, the teams then sailed down the Thames. Once passing the river Police, just after Tower Bridge, we started hurtling down towards Canary Wharf at 40mph. With accompanying music such as the Baywatch and Bond soundtracks blaring we experienced twists and turns, speeding past all the sightseeing boats. Once back to normal speed (passing the River Police again) the Power Boating team started a leisurely sightseeing tour from Tower Bridge to the Houses of Parliament before disembarking.

This was by no means the end. After a short walk from the Pier to London Bridge all participants were led to the Shard where we enjoyed the views from the 72nd floor whilst sipping on a chilled glass of Champagne. Bliss!

Sadly for Affilinet, they were defeated yet again after winning back the trophy in 2013. Affiliate Window were crowned winners of this year’s Affiliate Day! Well Done!

Kerstin Karl, Account Manager at Affiliate Window said: “The Red Letter Days Affiliate Day 2014 was a fantastic event! It started with a treasure hunt challenge, followed by power boating on the Thames and finished with us enjoying a glass of champagne and the amazing views from the Shard! The day was brilliantly organised and it was great fun to try out some of RLD experiences – definitely looking forward to the next one”

Last year’s winner James Bennie, Senior Account Manager at Affilinet said; “As a veteran of 3 previous RLD affiliate days, I can safely say 2014 was a resounding success, and personally my favourite to date.  For once the English summer decided to be kind, and we had perfect weather for the activities that laid ahead.  All participants met at the Counting House near Bank where we had a few drinks to settle the nerves, and an explanation of what would be in-store.  RLD had prepared a London scavenger hunt to kick the afternoon off.  We were put into teams and armed with a tablet let loose on the streets of London’s square mile.  Using the tablet we had to navigate our way to specific destinations where we would hear a ping that informed us we had made it to the right place.  We had to do a variety of tasks that involved taking team photos, answering questions and for those that made it far enough, engage in the biggest conga line possible (with the help of the willing public).  Ending at Docks the next activity was a power boat ride on the Thames.  Being prone to sea sickness on a still lake, this had me worried.  But it was probably my favourite bit of the day.
The final part of the day was a trip to the viewing level at the Shard.  With the weather so amazing, the views were incredible, and with a glass of champagne a very nice way to round off the day.  A trip to the pub followed with a few drinks, and plenty of food. Well done RLD – it will be difficult to beat 2014 next year!”

Thanks to all who attended and making it such a fun-filled day!
